Rincon Center Mixed-Use Development

  • Location:
  • San Francisco,
  • CA

Once the Rincon Annex Post Office, this historical landmark has been transformed into one of the city’s foremost dining and shopping centers, with more than 1 million square feet of office, retail and condominiums and 800 structured parking spaces.

The 1930s art-deco-style post office lobby was preserved and fresco murals meticulously restored. A soaring sky-lit atrium, surrounded by more than 30 of the City’s finest shops and restaurants, has as its focal point a dramatic 90–foot continuously cascading water column.

As part of his responsibilities, Tony Traub negotiated long-term leases with a number of tenants. Two of the tenants of Rincon Center are Federal Government agencies – the U.S. Post Office and the U.S. District Courts, which occupies the 9th District Federal Court of Appeals.

City architectural and art preservation regulations and approvals were followed at all stages. The City and the major tenants maintained a major role throughout the development process to make sure that their functional space and design needs were fulfilled.
