Daniel Hennessy

Principal and General Counsel, Garfield Traub Development

Garfield Traub Principal and General Counsel Dan Hennessy was a founding partner of the law firm Hughes & Luce, LLP (1973) and has practiced law in Texas since 1970.

One of the best "deal-making" attorneys in the nation, Mr. Hennessy represents Garfield Traub in the negotiation of various corporate and partnership ventures, and assists in the structuring of ownership entities for lease-purchase arrangements in the turnkey delivery of facilities for municipal, nonprofit, healthcare and educational clients.

Mr. Hennessy has represented many other clients in the purchase, construction, financing, refinancing and sale of hotels, office buildings, apartment complexes, shopping centers and land developments, and has extensive experience in the negotiation and structuring of loans and various other forms of debt and equity financing. He has been involved in the negotiation and structuring of corporations, limited liability companies, joint ventures and partnerships formed for the purpose of purchasing and operating various businesses, including conference centers, hotels, restaurants and apartments.

Having received his undergraduate degree from the United States Naval Academy in 1963 with highest honors, Mr. Hennessy went on to earn his law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School in 1970. He served in the United States Navy, including service in the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant. While in law school, among other activities, Mr. Hennessy served as an Editor of Harvard Law Review. Mr. Hennessy is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association.
